TOYNBEE - Geraldine Pilgrim

Date: 30 Nov 2013

Time: Various

Presented during Spitalfields Winter Festival, TOYNBEE will be an evocative journey around two historic buildings, celebrating the social, political and artistic significance of Toynbee Hall and Studios.

Having created many magical projects in amazing sites across the country over the past 10 years, Geraldine Pilgrim has created a new site-specific promenade performance of Toynbee Hall and Toynbee Studios.

These buildings have a wealth of stories associated with them, and a rich and varied history. Within a landscape of live music, image and performance, unexpected fragments of the past will be revealed. Traces of lives will be glimpsed out of windows, at the end of corridors and the turn of a stair, whilst footsteps echo to the sound of the different voices of the contemporary East End.

There is limited audience capacity, so book tickets now via the ArtsAdmin website.

The project is an Artsadmin commission produced in partnership with Spitalfields Music and Toynbee Hall. Supported by the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund and using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
