Last week, 22 of our Money Mentors worked with Monetise Create and Visa Europe Collab to identify innovative solutions to financial exclusion.

The mentors took part in a two-day ‘design jam’ with the aim of developing tools that address the problems which have the biggest impact on our community, such as the Poverty Premium.

Attendees came up with a number of ideas including an app to track savings made while doing the weekly shop, a job interview practice app and a utilities app that we are keeping under wraps for the time being.

The Money Mentors programme, which began in Tower Hamlets, is a pioneering initiative that aims to improve participants’ financial confidence, increase their financial capability and reduce financial exclusion.

Last week we announced that the programme will expand into every London Borough and tackle financial exclusion on a pan-London scale. The expansion is being funded by J P Morgan Chase and Columbia Threadneedle Foundation
