On the 2 February, Toynbee Hall took part in the 4th annual Great Legal Bake, an event organised by the London Legal Support Trust where staff from Law firms, charities and advice providers across London show off their baking skills to raise funds for free legal advice services.

Here at Toynbee Hall, 8 teams entered the bake off and showcased some beautiful cakes, brownies and bakes. The 16 cakes on display were judged by staff who scored them on appearance, texture and taste.

The winners were the Debt Advice team who produced a showstopper chocolate cake which also won the individual prize.

Staff raised £150 for the Free Legal Advice Centre, which helped 2126 people last year. The Free Legal Advice Centre offers a lifeline to many people who cannot afford access to justice. Our latest research has also shown that being refused legal aid leaves people feeling stressed, powerless and unable to get on with life.
